Monk Seal Attacks Swimmer Off Kauai

Authorities say a monk seal attacked a swimmer off Kauai Monday afternoon. The 28-year-old woman from Washington state was snorkeling at Mahaulepu Beach when she drifted into an area where several monk seals were swimming.

Twenty Pilot Whales Die On New Zealand Beach, 43 Saved

Twenty pilot whales died on a New Zealand beach after stranding but holiday-makers and conservation workers Sunday managed to coax 43 others back out to sea.

Man Dies After Skiing Into Tree at Colorado Resort

Summit County Coroner Joanne Richardson says the man was on an intermediate trail, lost control and crashed into a tree where the trail merges with another. The man’s name was not immediately released.
