Authorities Confirm Didsbury Hunter Killed By A Bear

The Calgary medical examiner has confirmed a Didsbury hunter found dead southwest of Sundre this week was killed by a bear.

48-year-old Robert Wagner was reported missing by his wife when he didn’t return from a hunting trip Monday. A ground and air search search was launched Tuesday.

Searchers found his vehicle first, and then located the body about a kilometer away.

It is the second fatal bear attack on a hunter in that region in the last year. Fish and Wildlife is trying to identify the animal involved in this week’s attack.
